For the first time in North America, a music exam
system has been established for those studying rock, blues, pop,
country, funk (etc.) music.
Classical music students have long benefited from the exam system
introduced by the Royal Conservatory of Music. The RCM is the
national standard for grading music students, though it focuses
almost exclusively on Classical music.
StageRight Exams(TM) employ a
grading system that provides music instructors with the tools
needed to guide their students through a series of practical exams.
And so for the first time, pop music students (i.e. most non-classical)
can take music exams.
This program is not intended to replace post-secondary studies
(please: go to college or university!). StageRight Exams(TM)
will, however, fully prepare music students for gigs: they will
be ready to perform, ready to record, ready to jam.
Currently, exams are offered for the following instruments:
Electric Guitar
Acoustic Guitar
Bass Guitar
To get started, click on “About the Program” on the
left.
We are in the process of developing our system for these instruments:
- Voice (Female)
- Voice (Male)
- Drums
- Keyboard
- Saxophone
The term “pop”, for the purpose of this system, refers
to popular music: rock, country, funk, blues, jazz, metal,
folk, etc.
